According to the (OBC) Ontario Building Code  the universal washroom or accessible washrooms, is becoming more and more popular in the past few years for commercial washroom because they offer practical solutions to some of today’s biggest challenges – barrier free washrooms for people with disabilities, including wheelchair and those who need assisting devices like walker and visually impaired individuals.

At this time (2023), the OBC asking for the every new structures to have universal washrooms in them. If you are renovating so there are certain requirements. and If you are building a new structure, you will need to include the universal washroom in it.  You also must to make sure that your building is on the same line with the accessibility standards for people with disabilities.

 

Where you can find the universal washrooms installed

Universal washrooms are mostly installed in public buildings such as government offices, hockey rinks, restaurants, shopping malls, airports, museums, libraries and retail stores or businesses.

The most obvious reason to install a universal washroom would be to ensure that your facility can serve all members of your community. If you want customers and employees to be happy, it’s important to make sure that everyone has the same accessibility to their bathrooms.

With  the Universal Washroom kit application the person not need to deal with the handle lever, try to push the door to step in and of course to lock the door for privacy… we make the life much easier…

With the accessible washroom kit that we offer – the person just need to push the exterior OPEN button and the door will automatically open to let him in and close automatically.

To lock the door he just need to push the interior LOCK button – the door will be locked, the exterior and the interior buttons will turn to RED and the exterior push button will be disable until open the door manually  or pushing the interior OPEN and then the lights will turn back to green and the door will open automatically to let the person out.
